Birthday Party / Private Event FAQs

Is a party at Little Beakers a good fit for my 5 year old?

Children as young as 3 and as old as 15 have celebrated their special day with us. When choosing between the 8 themes available, the best fit for your scientist will be their individual interests and abilities. Visit the website and click on the theme photos or open the mobile friendly version for a list of the experiments/activities included with each theme.

How many people can we invite?

We have hosted parties for groups with as few as 3 participants and as many as 30, with space for more! There is not a set limit on the number of non-participant guests that can be included. Please note that seating space in the party room is limited. If your group will have more than 24 attendees, we strongly encourage you to add-on a second party room.

Who is included in the participant count?

Guests who are actively participating during all or part of the guided session will be considered participants and be included in the participant count when the final bill is calculated.

Who needs to complete a waiver?

Everyone who enters the lab (child participant and adult guests alike) must complete a General Participant Waiver. A link specific to your party will be provided that you can share with your guests. If they are unable to complete the waiver before they arrive, there will be kiosks available for them use on the day of your event.

Can I book a group event (without a party room) on the weekend instead of booking a birthday party.

Any event booked between 2 PM on Friday and 8 PM on Sunday will be considered a birthday party and be subject to birthday party pricing.

What does the party room include?

Our classrooms double as party rooms for parties and events. Each room has counter space and includes 3 tables (two 8’x2’ and one 6’x2’) and stools for seating approximately 24 people. Please see our website for pictures. If your group size will exceed the capacity of a single party room, a second room may be reserved (on a space available basis) for an additional fee.

Will other people be in the lab during my event?

The guided portion of your event takes place in an area of the Open Lab that is marked as reserved. The party room is private. Additional parties and/or Open Lab appointments may be scheduled during your event.

How long is my party?

Party reservations are for 2 hours and 15 minutes. The 15 minutes before your official party start time are for check-in and additional room set-up, followed by approximately 1-hr of themed guided hands-on science led by a Little Beakers scientist. The balance of your time (up to 1 hour) is for celebrating in your private party room. We will be ready to start your party on time. Delays to your start time due to late arrivals will not extend/change the time in your party room. All personal items must be removed at the end of your reserved time to allow for staff to clean and sanitize rooms for our next reservation.

Can I bring in performers/professionals for hire?

Outside professionals for hire are NOT permitted in the lab before, during or after your event. This includes, but is not limited to: facepainters, balloon artists, photograpers/videographers, and/or musicians.

Can I bring my own decorations?

You are welcome to bring your own decorations and party suppliess. NOTE: piñatas, sparklers and confetti cannons are NOT permitted. Before hanging anything on the walls or windows, see a Little Beakers employee who will provide tape that is paint and glass safe. If you want to save time, let Little Beakers help by adding party room set-up (which includes table coverings, plates, cups, utensils, napkins and a happy birthday banner) to your reservation.

What kind of food can we bring?

You can choose to bring your own food. You are not limited in the type of food allowed (note that Alcohol is prohibited). Refrigerator space is not available for public use.

Is there a refrigerator, freezer, and/or oven available for use?

Freezer space may be available for ice cream. The lab does not have an oven. Refrigerator space is not available for public use. Guests will need to plan ahead for any food that requires refrigeration or heating.

Can we tour the space before booking?

You are welcome to visit Little Beakers during open hours. Access to party rooms is limited by active classes and/or events. Party rooms are assigned by Little Beakers based on schedule/availability the day of your event. Specific rooms may not be reserved in advance.
